WHY I DO THIS

RANDI KRUGER

Owner, Kayak Instructor and Guide

Everything I do on the water should satisfy some part of my soul. Whether I'm just foolin' around in boats, or working with students, joy is at the heart of what I do.

I currently hold American Canoe Association Coastal Kayak Level 4 Open Water and River Kayak Level 2 Instructor Certifications. I am also an Instructor Trainer Candidate, Coastal L3.

I firmly believe in core skills: strokes & maneuvers, and safety & rescue. I have a genuine interest in providing my students with a solid foundation so they can get out on the water safely. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say I enjoy the rescues the most. "Let's get wet!" I emphasize team building, situational awareness, and the three Ws (wind, weather, water).

Dawn "Sandy Bottom" Stewart

CCK Shop Pro & Instructor

Born and raised in Hawaii, Dawn has salt in her blood.  Sea kayaking for over 25 years, she is an ACA L4 Open Water Instructor, BCU 4* trip leader, and has put in many years on the Board of the Carolina Kayak Club as their Training Chair.  Her passion is ocean kayak expeditions, and she’s been known to do some multi-day/week kayaking adventure races under the pseudonym SandyBottom. Not  sure which part she loves most, paddling or camping, Dawn says “nothing seems more fun than traveling the oceans in a kayak”.  Now retired from her day job, she’s doing just that. Proficient in both Greenland and Euro style paddling, Dawn loves playing in surf, has taken up rock gardening, and has a specific interest in working with students to overcome fears and gain confidence in open water conditions.
