About the event
So you are ready to learn more strokes? Want to handle your boat more efficiently and push into playful water? This class will introduce ACA Level 3 strokes and environment, as well as refine strokes you already have.
Cost $50 per student. Students will be invoiced via email, payable by any credit card or PayPal.
During the day we will progress from an easy sheltered environment to water that more closely meets the ACA's Level 3 definition:
"Course Location / Venue: Lakes or coastal waters with potential areas of exposure to mild wind and wave conditions, with constant access to safe landing and within 1.5 nm from shore:
10 - 15 knot winds
1 - 2 foot waves (chop) (0.3 – 0.6 meters)
1 - 2 foot surf (0.3 – 0.6 meters)
1 - 2 knots of current"
Please note that the above conditions do not need to occur simultaneously.
This class is entirely challenge by choice, i.e. students can chose to try as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing.
You may get wet. If there is time we will add some rescues at the end of the day.
We will take breaks throughout the day. Please bring snacks and lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, and choose clothing appropriate for the weather. This class will occur rain or shine. The only thing that will keep us off the water is thunderstorms or severe flooding.
Work up an appetite for seafood at Capt John's after class.
Low tide 0751, High tide 1429 at Colton's Point
You must WEAR a pfd, not just carry it.
Kayaking is an activity with "assumed risk." Each paddler is responsible for their own safety. We assume no liability, and are not present to guarantee safety.
